Prayer for the Faithful Departed and Their Memory

Entrust the dead to God's mercy, ask for their rest, and keep their memory with faith and gratitude.

God our Father, source of all life, I bring before You those who have gone before us. Into Your mercy I entrust all the faithful departed I once placed in Your love: family, friends, and so many the world no longer names, but whom You keep by name.

We believe that death does not cut the bond of love. In the communion of saints, the living and those who rest in Christ remain one in You. So we pray for them, not in fear, but in hope.

Let the light that does not fade shine upon them. Forgive what was weakness, receive what was love, and grant them the rest that only You give. May the paschal mystery of Christ, His death and resurrection, be their gate into Your peace.

Lord, give us the grace to remember them with gratitude. May the memory of those who have gone before us be not only longing, but a presence that teaches us to live with tenderness and to care for those who remain. Keep alive in us the good they left behind.

Holy Mary, Mother of the sorrowing and consolation of the afflicted, present our prayers for the dead to God. And you, saints of God, pray for them and for us, until we meet again in the light. Amen.
