Prayer for Holy Week

A prayer guide to walk through the days of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to the Easter Vigil.

Lord Jesus, on this Palm Sunday, I enter Jerusalem with You. I do not want to merely wave branches: I want You to enter my life as You entered the holy city — with humility, without force, yet transforming everything You touch.

On Holy Thursday, I place myself before the washing of the feet. Teach me to serve without choosing whom. Give me a heart that bends before another — not out of obligation, but because it recognizes Your presence in each person. At the table of the Eucharist, renew in me the hunger for Your Body and the thirst for communion with You.

On Good Friday, I walk with You on the way of the cross. I do not flee from silence, nor do I turn my gaze from Your suffering. Help me to recognize my own crosses — not to lose myself in them, but to surrender them to You. May Your cross be the place where I lay down pride, fear, and all that keeps me from the Father.

On Holy Saturday, I wait in silence. Teach me to wait without despair, to trust when I cannot see, to believe that the seed in the dark is already preparing new life. Stay with me in this silence that precedes joy.

And when the light of the Easter Vigil breaks through the night, kindle in me the certainty that death does not have the final word. Christ is risen — and with Him, I too can begin again.

Amen.
