Lent Prayer
A prayer to live Lent with conversion, fasting, and charity.
Holy Father, in this season of Lent, examine my heart and show me where I need conversion. Do not be afraid to touch the places I resist handing over: the pride that sets me apart from my brothers and sisters, the vanity that keeps me focused on myself, and the laziness that makes me give up walking with You.
Teach me to fast with faith. May abstinence be more than an outward gesture, but a choice that makes me lighter so I can hear You. Keep me from fasting to be seen by others, and grant me the grace to fast in order to serve You.
Open my eyes to see who needs a helping hand, a simple gesture, a welcoming word. Make me an instrument of Your charity: in the commitments of daily life, in small decisions, in encounters that seem insignificant but are where Your love becomes present.
Accompany me through these forty days of penance and hope. When I grow weak, sustain me with Your patience. When I forget the purpose of the journey, guide me back to Your Son, Jesus, who gave Himself out of love for the world. Amen.
