Prayer for First Communion

Give this child a humble and attentive heart. May she understand, with the simple wisdom that is her own, that in this bread and wine is your living presence, the food that sustains the soul.
Teach the parents, the godparents, and the whole family to walk beside this step with serene faith. Give them true words and consistent examples, so that what is celebrated today at the altar may become daily love within the home.
Holy Spirit, illuminate the path that begins here. May this first Communion be not only a beautiful event, but the beginning of a lasting friendship with Jesus, who walks alongside each of us forever.
