A Prayer for Comfort in Grief

A welcoming prayer to seek comfort after a loss and place your sorrow in God's hands, one step at a time.

Lord, loss has come and changed the rhythm of my days. There is an emptiness no words can fill and a longing that sometimes takes my breath away. I have come to You because I need comfort and I do not quite know how to carry this sorrow alone.

Do not ask me to pretend that I am fine. Receive me as I am: with a broken heart, with unanswered questions, and with the tears that still come. Let Your presence be the place where I can rest without having to explain anything.

Teach me to release, little by little, the weight I carry. When the memory hurts, quiet my chest. When the silence grows heavy, remind me that I am not alone. I entrust to You the one who has gone, and I entrust to You what remains of me.

Father, sustain my steps through the hard days. Give me patience with my own timing of healing, and surround me with people who know how to care in silence. May I find comfort not in a magic answer, but in Your love that does not abandon me.

This prayer walks alongside grief; it does not replace the care of those who listen to you and receive you with professional skill. Amen.
