A Prayer of Gratitude for the Years Ahead
A brief prayer for later life: thanking God for the journey and asking for patient, dignified care.
Lord, we thank You for every year treated as a gift we cannot keep, but that still forms us. For the paths we have walked, for hands that worked so well and now tremble, for eyes that see less but still recognize what is good, we are grateful.
In this season of fewer steps and more prayers, we come near You with the gentleness that age teaches. We do not ask for time to stop, only for the grace to welcome each day with patience, just as those around us welcome us with respect and kindness.
Watch over those who have already watched over so many, and let our memories bear witness to faithfulness, not resentment. Strengthen those who now sit in the quiet spaces, giving them the assurance that life remains worth living even when the body grows weary. And Lord, may our gratitude rise as a quiet hymn for everything You have been through all these years.
Amen.
