Prayer Before a Difficult Conversation
A short prayer to ask for gentleness and truth before facing a delicate dialogue.
Lord, in this moment before the conversation, I place in Your hands the fear of saying too much or too little, the dread of hurting or shutting down.
Grant me gentleness to listen without defending myself before understanding. Grant me truth to speak without hiding what is essential, without turning pain into a weapon.
Help me name what I feel with clarity and tenderness. May my words not be walls, but bridges; not accusations, but invitation.
If there is pride disguised as being right, reveal it. If there is silence that should be a word, give me courage to speak it. If there is a word that should be silence, teach me to hold it.
May this encounter, however difficult, foster understanding — or at least respect. And when it ends, may I have betrayed neither truth nor love.
