What is a novena and how do you pray one?
Understand the meaning of a Catholic novena and organize nine days of prayer with freedom and trust.
A novena is a path of prayer over nine days. The number creates continuity, but it is not a contract. The center is to present your life to God, ask for a grace, and remain open to an answer that may also involve change, waiting, and help from others.
How to organize nine days
Choose one concrete intention, a short prayer, and a possible time. Set aside five to fifteen minutes. Each day, be quiet, read a short Bible passage, present the request, and finish by giving thanks. If you miss a day, begin again without guilt.
Write the intention in one sentence and add a responsible action within your reach. Prayer illuminates action; it does not replace it.
